Description
VMware vSphere 7 is a server virtualisation platform that combines the ESXi hypervisor with vCenter Server management. It lets you run many virtual machines on each physical server, with features such as vMotion, High Availability and Distributed Resource Scheduler depending on the edition.
Please note: VMware vSphere 7 reached the end of general support on 2 October 2025. For new deployments we recommend vSphere 8.

Activation guide

Workstation Pro / Fusion Pro
Open the app and go to Help → Enter a License Key (Workstation) or VMware Fusion → License (Fusion), then paste the key.

vSphere: add the key
In the vSphere Client open Administration → Licensing → Licenses → Add, paste the key, give it a name and finish.

vSphere: assign it
Go to the Assets tab, select your vCenter Server or ESXi hosts, choose “Assign License” and select the new key.

Single ESXi host
Without vCenter, open the ESXi Host Client → Manage → Licensing → Assign license and enter the key.

Is vSphere 7 still supported?+
General support for vSphere 7 ended on 2 October 2025, so it no longer receives regular updates. vSphere 8 is the current version.
