How to install and activate Office LTSC 2024

Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 is a one-time-purchase version of Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and more). It is installed with Microsoft's free Office Deployment Tool and activated with your product key.

Before you start

  • Uninstall any older version of Microsoft Office first, then restart your PC (Microsoft's guide: support.microsoft.com → “Uninstall Office from a PC”).
  • Have your 25-character product key from your order email ready.
  • You need Windows 10 or 11 and an internet connection.

    Download the Office Deployment Tool

    Download Microsoft's free Office Deployment Tool (search “Office Deployment Tool” on microsoft.com) and run it to extract its files into a new folder, for example C:\ODT.

    Create your configuration file

    Open config.office.com (Microsoft's Office Customization Tool), choose “Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 – Volume License”, 64-bit and your language, then export the file and save it as configuration.xml in the same folder.

    Install Office

    Open Command Prompt as administrator, go to the folder (cd C:\ODT) and run: setup.exe /configure configuration.xml. Office downloads and installs – this can take a while.

    Activate with your key

    Open Word or Excel. When asked, paste your product key and click Activate. If you're not asked, go to File → Account → Change Product Key.

Troubleshooting

Office says it's already activated or uses another key

Go to File → Account → Change Product Key and enter your new key – no need to reinstall.

The key is not accepted

Make sure an older Office version is fully uninstalled, then try again. If it still fails, contact us with a screenshot of the message – don't retry the key many times.
